"Command, this is Vance. I've located their headquarters."

"Copy, Vance. Assemble a team. We move at dawn."

Kira appeared beside her. "The Purists have been cloning soldiers. We'll be outnumbered."

"Then we'll be smarter."

The raid was brutal. The Purists fought with fanatical desperation, their electromagnetic pulses disabling cybernetic enhancements. Lena and Kira fought with traditional weapons, their training keeping them alive.

"There," Kira said, pointing to a reinforced door.

Lena breached it, her pulse rifle firing. The Purist leader stood behind a console, his hands raised.

"It's over," Lena said.

He laughed. "It's never over."

He activated a self-destruct sequence. The building began to shake.

"Command, the building is going to blow. We need extraction."

"Copy, Vance. A helicopter is on the way."

Lena and Kira ran, dragging the Purist leader with them. The helicopter lifted just as the building collapsed.

"Command, the Purist cell is destroyed."

"Copy, Vance. Good work. Come home."

Lena looked at the captured leader, at the ruins below.

"It's over," she said.

He smiled. "For now."

She turned away, her cybernetic eye glowing.

The war was never over.

But Lena Vance was ready.

She had to be.

The city was counting on her. Always.
